CARAVÃNA SUN reflect on grief and connection with new single ‘KEEP MY LOVE CLOSE’

Sydney 4-piece Caravāna Sun have today returned with their first release for 2024; ‘Keep My Love Close’, a beautiful piece of indie electronica that reflects on grief, life and everlasting connection.

Transcendent chord progressions, a pulsing kick pattern and delicate arpeggiated synths build a strong foundation for the track – leaving the perfect backdrop for some truly stunning vocal melodies from the band that uplift the listener with a feeling of hope, contrasting beautifully with the heavy thematic tone found in the lyrics. On ‘Keep My Love Close’, Caravāna Sun continue to build on the sound they’ve been developing over the last few years, moving closer and closer into the indie electronic sphere whilst still staying true to their roots.

Written alongside producer and frequent collaborator Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe, Meg Mac) in a cosy studio in Southern Sydney along with mixing from Peter Holz (Gang Of Youths, Peking Duk, Vance Joy), the track blends elements of electronic and dance music with indie and pop effortlessly – culminating in a sound not dissimilar to Empire Of The Sun or Foals

Thematically, the song reflects on a dark period for Singer/Guitarist Luke Carra – and how he has coped with a great loss, holding onto that connection and being there for his loved ones through that grief.

“Keep My Love Close” is a song about Luke’s (Singer/ Guitarist) stillborn baby named Daisy & the longing to keep that connection strong throughout loss. Its song that expresses a love that will never be lost”

“The Sydneysiders’ third album is a sonic treat. With a solid backbone of rhythm and the loose tag of surf rock, their songs contort themselves in a variety of styles.”
