Pouvoir Magique is a captivating blend of sound and emotion, drawing listeners into a world of depth and mystery. In this interview, we dive into the essence of this unique project through five key questions, exploring its creative process, inspirations, and the magic behind the music
“Deeper” introduces a darker and more complex sound compared to your previous single “Fantastic Child.” Can you walk us through how you approached the creation of this track ?
Hi Further! Glad you mentioned it! During the process of creating my album “Cycles” I wanted to have a journey through the album that represents a path of a hero who has to embrace his dark parts to find his own light.
Fantastic Child is certainly more joyful but it is connected with Deeper in these different aspects : Flutes for light, Distortions and saturation for shadows. You can find a tiny part in Fantastic Child at the end where synths go crazy. That announced “Deeper” in a way. And in “Deeper” you can find flutes that are in echoes with the ones in Fantastic Child etc…
I like to balance between these elements to have a rich universe in my music that reflects how everyone feels and how everything works in life.
You’ve mentioned that Cycles represents an initiatory journey of self-discovery, with each track symbolizing a different phase. What was your own personal journey during the creation of this album ?
My personal journey was a lot like the hero I imagined to guide me through the album process: embracing my darkest parts. For most of my life, I’ve been all about looking nice and being pleasant for everyone. I still care about that, but now, in a more balanced way. I’ve realized I’ve got a lot of anger and aggression inside me. It doesn’t show often, but I can taste it when I’m standing in front of massive speakers, feeling the sound hit me right in the chest! I hate fighting and violence, but in this context, I love it! It’s such a powerful energy, and if I can channel it into something creative it’s a win!
I wanted my album to reflect that side of me—that part that really enjoys heavy bangers and deep basslines. That’s also the moment my demon takes over on stage. With his burning eyes, you know what’s coming next!
The music video for Deeper gives you a glimpse of that vibe:
I’d love to play in England someday—I know you’ve got an amazing sound system culture over there! 😉
You’ve cited inspirations from fantasy worlds like Tolkien and Harry Potter. How do these fantastical influences inform the atmosphere of your music, and how do they manifest in the soundscapes and visuals of Cycles?
Tolkien, and then Peter Jackson and Howard Shore with The Lord of the Rings movies, are like my bible. When I was talking about the violence you can find in sound, it’s like being on the Pelennor Fields for me. I can almost imagine and feel the pressure, the intensity of an epic battle just through the sounds.
At the same time, you’ve got these incredibly pure and emotional moments with the world of the elves, for example. Their singing voices and language in the movies are so inspiring. There’s a deep sense of spirituality in them that I’m really attached to.
As a director and post-producer of all my music videos, I also bring a lot of these inspirations into my visuals. I love when the editing feels dynamic and when symbolism and light are used to represent spirituality and the bridges between our world and the ones our imagination creates. Fantasy books, movies, and legends are all metaphors—lessons about our existence. They’re psychology, whether on a big scale or a tiny one, and they’re open to interpretation.
You can see this in Magic Melody and the other parts—it’s all about that!
Are there any specific lessons or experiences from working with other artists that shaped your sound or creative vision for this album?
For sure! The first lesson is learning to put your ego aside. I brought in a few amazing artists to add their voices, harp, flutes, guitars, and bass—things I can’t play or do myself on my tracks. It was easy because I admire their work so much, like Fakear, Ismael Murat ElHakim, and Ekaterina Shelehova.
But when it came to having someone act as a second brain on the project, someone who would make me cut parts that weren’t working, it was a whole different story! At first, it was tough because I’d been working alone for over 10 years. But in the end, having Theotime Van Gaver who helped me to rearrange half the album was such a blessing.
Our long discussions and his unique approach to music taught me so much. Those lessons stay with me, and I know they’ve made me a better producer.
What can we expect from you in the future in terms of project and collaboration ?
For now, I just want people to discover my music, connect with it, and share it with their friends so I can play my album live in as many venues as possible. I want to feel that connection with people who are vibing 1000% with my work and are ready to experience something magical.
Because it’s not just an ordinary DJ or live set, there’s so much more happening on stage with costumes, a light sceptre, connected ring, percussions and more!
I also want to keep evolving and be recognized by the music industry, even though my music doesn’t fit neatly into a specific box. Speaking of that, I’ve officially launched my own genre: Electronic Fantasy Music. Who’s ready to join?
