Focus on TENNIN and her upcoming projects

TENNIN is a French musical artist. Her songs and her artistic recipe have caught the attention of international tastemakers such as AFROPUNK, EARMILK or CLASH MAGAZINE PLAYLIST. TENNIN’s third single “Heal You” caught the attention of famous trip-hop pioneer TRICKY who signed it to his label False Idols. “Heal You” will be released in August 2019 on the “Test of Time” compilation, a project in association with !K7 Music, which featured tracks from Saul Williams, IDLES, and others.

Additionally, 2019 saw her be one of the AFROPUNK BOTB finalists and she performed for the final event at Les Etoiles Paris. At the beginning of 2020, the French pop artist signed his single “Guys In Tears” on the famous Parisian label KITSUNE MUSIC.

In recent years, the independent artist has been able to amaze us with her ever more astonishing releases. Songs with an original artistic recipe, all her own, colored with RNB, hip-hop rhythms, and intriguing electronic elements. Since the beginning, TENNIN knew how to impose herself with professionals and medias, and proves that the DIY artist today is capable of a lot.

A way of apprehending the public that leaves us curious about the rest. According to social networks and her news, TENNIN seems to be working on a complete project with an international team.

If TENNIN sings in English, her recently dropped cover of “Les Poèmes de Michelle” only confirmes the singer original ideas, wide creativity and skills. The world rocks us artists that we love because of their personality and attitude: Beyoncé, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, and Tennin has everything to become the new revelation. You will see, from independence to the Grammys, the border is thin for determined artists.

Here is a quick reminder of her music:

A trap from the future whose production is signed Stéphy Lokua with psychedelic elements.

Two experimental RNB tracks with hypnotic productions. An Old-school flavor is also present and reminds us of TLC, Aaliyah or Brandy, Janet Jackson, or Neneh Cherry.

Tennizer is unique with this totally new and original pop. The retro synths are addictive.

The track was released on the “Test of Time” compilation curated by Tricky. The project also features artist like Saul Williams, Idles Band etc.

As you will have understood, TENNIN‘s music is made of several bewitching entities with a very singular vocal signature. Tennin in Japanese Buddhism means spiritual beings, angels or even fairies.

The multifaceted artist does not stop there and also created her own radio show: the World Of Tennin Shows, three of which have already been broadcast on German radio Refuge Worldwide and French radio VibingBird.

She will announce a new project very soon.

What other international medias says:

“For the visuals, she teams up with videographer July Space in the city of Berlin who helps bring the song to life with moody cinematic aesthetics and well-crafted storyboarding. It is all shot in black and white and follows TENNIN with an unknown individual as they walk through the busy city streets while their lives seem to slowly diverge. I like how it opts out of using performance shots and instead, we get to see TENNIN deep in thought as she contemplates what the future holds with or without her partner.” For “Totally” by TAYO ODUTOLA, EARMILK.

“With the perfect melding of industrial menace and R&B songcraft, Battle of the Bands Paris 2019 finalist TENNIN’s latest is destined to be the highlight of any goth night for a long time coming. Like the lovechild between Downward Spiral-era NIN and SWV we didn’t know we needed, TENNIN comes out swinging. The drone bass and aggressive textures give a compelling undercurrent to the impossibly hooky vocals, with a video that finds the beauty in our post-industrial wasteland. If we gotta live in a Mad Max dystopia, at least our soundtrack is gonna be dope.” For “Take A Ride” by NATHAN LEIGH, AFROPUNK.

For TENNIZER, by Iggymagazine.

By Maxime Delcourt, BRAIN MAGAZINE.
