Our focus of the day is on our favourite discovery of the weekend, the one and only DMENTID.
The rapper made an incredible impression on our redaction thanks to his epic album “Aspire”, and believe us, the opus will accompany your whole summer.
Indeed, in an area where hip-hop creates clones and quality is neglected, DMENTID offers a powerful experience where authentic rap blends with strong messages and a sense of creativity. A touch of old-school, some psychedelic colours within the beats and above all sharp and addictive flows: this is what offers “Aspire”, and this is inspiring.
The 9 track-project honours hip-hop in all its glory: absolutely appealing and definitely stands out from the crowd.
Listen to it now and read our conversation with DMENTID below:
Tell us who you are and how you started to make music?
I go by the name DMENTID, I started making music for fun and just got obsessed. it slowly grew from my passion to almost a form a therapy, a moment to just sort through thoughts.
What inspires you to write music?
Everyday life, i know more people rather use music as a means to escape. I prefer to use my music as a weapon or tool to navigate through life.
What is your creative process?
I usually cycle through the beat selection till the one that speaks to me catches my attention, and i try to make the feel of the beat blend with topics i want to talk about.
Can you describe your latest release?
My newest project “Aspire” is my journey and struggles with pursuing a career in music while juggling everyday life. I, like im sure many had a lot of losses back to back that put me in a bad place mentally. I combine it all into a nice one project.
What do you plan for the future?
I am setting up to finish a few more videos off of the “Aspire” Project ( “Stuck in my ways” “Wake up” “all about”) and getting the follow up project in recording. I want to really focus on getting aspire into the attention of people that might relate and need the vent.
