Introducing English artist Amanda

We had the opportunity to have a little chat with English artist Amanda, who has recently released her latest single “Electric” — a stunning genre-blending song.

Although the singer is known for her participation to the kid version of “Stars in Their Eyes” and her huge impact on the TV show, Amanda has always proven that she had a place among the greatest.

It is not surprising to hear that she performed alongside major artists, including on Boyzone’s tour..

Her alluring single “Electric”, extracted from her upcoming EP, is an infusion of old school funky melodies with electro-pop touches. It gives you a groovy feeling and that’s the perfect combo for the summer.

It was only right to have a chat and get to know the emerging star. Read our conversation below:

Hello Amanda, welcome to The-further! Can you tell us who you are and how you started to do music?

I’m a singer/songwriter, I was born and raised in the North of England in a tiny village. I’ve been singing and writing songs since I was 4 years old. I don’t remember my life ever without music as the focus.

Your music is very eclectic. What inspires you to write music?

I’m inspired every day by different artists, I love going down the rabbit hole and finding new artists online. My music taste is so broad and varied I can literally go from Stevie Wonder to Sade to Phil Collins to Kendrick Lamar, I’m all over the place depending on my mood! But even beyond music right now I’ve been most inspired by those who are going to work on the front lines everyday during the COVID-19 pandemic. Just the thought of these people going to work every day to help us, whether it be nurses, doctors, grocery store workers etc I just feel so grateful for their selflessness. They’re putting their own lives at risk for their commitment to our wellbeing. It’s truly amazing.

How do you create songs? Do you have a specific creative process?

Every song is different but I definitely love a vibe, the room has to be right, whether its lights, candles, room scents or whatever! I have to feel good at that moment. I usually like to get the “movie” in my head before I start, I like to visualize it so I can almost see the movie when I close my eyes! Then I’ll play with melodies and lyrics.

Your splendid single “Electric” is extracted from an upcoming EP, can you tell us more about it?

I’m really excited to share my next EP “Mood Swings”. Its a two parts project which I’ve been working on for the past few years. Part 1 comes out in June and part 2 will be released later this year. It’s really taken on a life of its own from where it began and it has just grown into something I’m so proud of. I set out to create a record you could put on and just zone out to, something that really took you out of your head for a second and just feel a whole mood.

What are your musical plans for the future?

Right now my focus is to finish ‘Mood Swings Pt.2’ and keep it going, I’m not sure how the live music scene is going to look for a while so for me I’m just focusing on creating new records every day.
