Los Angeles, and more specifically Hollywood, has always been a place that fascinated Lilliane as a child. She was drawn to the allure of celebrities, pop culture, and the glitz and glamour that comes with it. In her head, she had always pictured what it would be like to live the life she dreamed of and be in the city of stars. Now, as she has experienced what real life is like in Hollywood, she has come to realize the difference between what she had always pictured and what it is like in real life.
For her debut EP, Lilliane has decided to capture that very thought and turn it into a project that inspires others to realize the difference between how life should be and how life is. Hollywood, which is set to release on October 9, is a five-song project that combines 1970s soft rock with modern-day indie-pop, capturing her older influences while still having a modern view.
Hailing from Germany to South Africa, Lilliane has always had music in her life. She grew up in a household where music was always playing, sang in school choirs, and, as a child, listened to CDs and sang along to them using an empty deodorant bottle as her microphone. She then went on to study musical theatre for three years. Although she ended up choosing songwriting over musical theatre, she still has a big liking for it.
I Dream of You was Lilliane’s debut single, released in February 2026. It was her first release as an independent artist, and it amassed nearly 20,000 Spotify streams. It was the first track that she had played on the radio, and it has been played on several stations. After the release of I Dream of You, Lilliane went on to release Fatal Attraction and Fairytale.
The idea for the title of her EP came from the fact that she always dreamed big and pictured her life a certain way. Now that she is living in the reality of it, she has noticed the difference between what she pictured and what she is experiencing. The theme of the EP is about accepting life for what it is, the good and the hard, while still having the outlook of a big dreamer. The EP also explores other themes such as love, heartbreak, loneliness, growing up, longing, and emotional vulnerability.
The first track, Hollywood, is about the gap between what you expect life to be and what it actually is. It is about having big dreams, but also having to accept what life has to offer. The next track, I Dream of You, is about being in a long-distance relationship and being separated from the person you love the most. Hotel Room is about the loneliness that comes with travelling for work. Being alone in a hotel room makes you want to be back with friends and family. Fairytale is a beautiful ballad about what happens when your relationship changes because your partner develops feelings for someone else. The final track, Fatal Attraction, is an upbeat track about being stuck in a toxic relationship and then finding the courage to leave it behind. It is a great way to close out the EP.
Overall, the message that Lilliane wants to convey with her EP is that dreaming does not end, it just changes. No matter what life throws your way, you can still keep your imagination and hope alive, even if it is not what you pictured it to be, without becoming cynical.
Hollywood is written by Lilliane Koller, Amy Tjasink, Jono Greyling, and Theo Mulder. Production is by Jono Greyling and Theo Mulder. Mixing and mastering are by Theo Mulder.
