Unleashing Sonic Fury: The-further introduces you to Lancaster

A formidable force in the contemporary music scene, Lancaster has emerged as a compelling presence, and their latest release, “Hell Campaign” epitomizes the unbridled vigor of their sound. This dynamic tracks provides an ideal musical backdrop for unleashing the accumulated stress of the week, serving as a high-octane escape into the realms of metal and hard rock.

Founded in Quebec city around 2018, the band has created a sound that is unyielding, featuring wild arrangements that resonate with a potent, almost primal force. The guitars are intense and powerful, the rhythms are electrifying and the singing resonates as a cry from the heart, tinted by a rebellious punk attitude.

Why did you form? How did the idea come to be?

Music has always been an integral part of the lives of the band members. The timing was right, as I was leaving the military and was able to renew with my passion to play music, so I got a band going. After a few line up changes, our current line up is our strongest.

How would you describe your sound in five words?

Heavy, Old school, catchy, powerful, drinking

Your upcoming album, how do you think it will be received by fans?

I believe we’ve set a new bar with the quality, from the writing to production, I believe the fans will greatly appreciate.

What kind of listening experience is trying to give fans with this album, its singles?

Addiction inducing, I want people to feel powerful, energetic, excited, and hyperactive.

How is the writing process for the band?

We go as it comes, either through jamming together or when someone writes a riff at home. If we all like the riff, we start working on it. Sometimes it’s just an idea we get, and we explore and extrapolate until we have something we like.

Are any of the band members known on the local scene from any other bands?

Jack’s Slaughtering (Dave Mayot)

How did you decide on the tracks for this album? How much more music can fans expect?

We were in a rough spot and had to release something of quality rather quickly after our first album release. Our fans can expect us to create as long as we can, or rather until some one dies.

What can people expect live from your band compared to other bands?

There’s a raw’ness to our sound and performing style. Being a power trio we can tap easily into high energy riffs to get a crowd going.

Where do your lyrics come from? What inspires your writing?

Lots of personal philosophy but also my army background. Our lyrics often have a militaristic theme to them as it follows with the band’s name. We talk a lot about the dynamics of power, the horrors of war and the madness brought on by both.

Sometimes it’s just stuff that seems cool as I day dream about them in my head.

Are the songs a collaborative effort?

Always. Every member has his say, their own input. Even in the studio we work rather closely with our producers.

Does the band have a main songwriter?

When it comes to lyrics, I have full control as I’m the only true english speaker in the bunch, but for the music, it’s much more of a free for all.

How does the music affect the lyrics and vice versa?

They’re definitely symbiotic. One encourages the other. One inspires the other.

How would you describe the evolution of the band’s sound?

On an exponential curb. Our sound keeps getting more and more defined, live and in the studio.

Name the Top 5 band influences of the band/ Top 5 Bands that your band sounds like that fans like.

Motorhead, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Sodom, Metallica

What metal genres influence you as a band the most?

Heavy metal, Thrash Metal, Uk82 punk

Describe The Album Artwork!

The album artwork is a worked version of the trench system on the Somme, France in WW1. Showcasing the scars of destruction of man’s war on the land.

Describe the album as a whole!

A dystopian perspective on the nature of war and power. Set in a “diesel punk” heavy metal fantasy, there’s also some political philosophy inspired by the times.

Can you describe each song track by track?

The Arrow: The re-imagining of the Canadian war plane: The Avro Arrow as a dragon of ice and it’s story.

Something Wicked: Like a witch’s incantation, we’re painting an image that’s warning of something lurking in the shadows. Witchcraft and pentagrams. Foreshadowing our arrival.

Outlaw: As an ex-military member, I have massive issues with the militarization of police, its role in modern society, the issues with social media, bodycams, police unions and training.

Tropical Nightmare: The instrumentals inspired the lyrics. A “1981 Heavy Metal” style zombie killing fantasy.

Ravenstone: Inspired by Dan Carlin’s podcast (Painfotainment) about the death penalty, torture, and execution throughout human history, “Ravenstone” is a recreation of a man sentenced to death and experiencing his execution as States form of entertainment.

The Dictator: A dystopian landscape created by the nature of dictators. The verses are inner monologues, the pre chorus’s speaking to troops and the breakdown a speech to a hypnotized and convinced crowd.

Diesel Punk: Like Cyber punk, like steam punk, Diesel punk is a setting in time. It’s a WW2 fantasy landscape intertwined with a punk setting. Anti-Nazi, Ally philosophy, political anthems of liberty, self-expression, and equality.

Hell Campaign: This song is about the eternal fight. As an ex-soldier, the warrior ethos has always been part of my person. No matter the situation, you find a way, you persevere. The allegory is self-explanatory, you fight for what you want, you do it out of an irrational love. It’s taken years, and it shows on the body, but the fight is never over.
