Discovering The Carpets: Raw Feelings, No Filters

Meet The Carpets, today’s discovery and a breath of fresh indie folk air. With “My Stupid Thinkabout”s, the band strips things down to the essentials, no frills, no overthinking—just raw feeling. This short release offers three tracks, each minimal, organic, and quietly powerful. A deep, grounded voice carries the songs with an authentic, almost fragile expressiveness that pulls you in instantly.

There’s a soft melancholy running through the first two tracks, tender and introspective, like late-night thoughts you didn’t mean to share. But don’t get too comfortable—because the final song flips the mood. It leans into rock territory, louder, more explosive, revealing a band that refuses to stay in one lane.

The Carpets show a genuine love for music in its purest form, shifting effortlessly between intimacy and energy. We got to know them through a few questions!

Welcome to our redaction! Can you tell us who you are and how you started to make music?

We are an Indie Rock band called The Carpets. From Portugal, based in Paris.

The band started out with just Luis Santos and Nuno Pires. We started at quite an early age, during our teenage years and we’ve had several projects, until music brought us to the city of Paris and we started to focus on finding band members for our live acts. That’s when we met the other three guys and we started playing together about year ago. Our music has a wide range of influences, going from very energetic and powerful indie rock songs, to slow and meditative ballads. Focusing mainly on the guitar work and vocal harmonies, our music tends to please the general indie rock audience from late 90’s to early 2000’s.

How would you describe your creative process?

Our creative process changes constantly depending on the song. But if we had to define it or say how it normally is, it starts with and idea behind some chords and lyrics we’ve been working on and eventually we try to rearrange it harmonically so it has a nice structure and we feel like we are taking the most out of the song we are working on at the moment. Eventually rehearsing it with a live band and seeing how it really works, will transform the song into it’s final version.

Can you present your latest release to our readers?

Our latest release was a song called “My Stupid Thinkabouts”. It’s a very personal song, written quite a while ago. It really felt like the right moment to pick it up and release it, since it really talks about very contemporary aspects of young adult life. It speaks about anxiety and recurrent intrusive thoughts and kind of the way we think we can overcome it. It’s a vulnerable song, a slow ballad that slowly rises into a big emotional wall.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Our plans now are to find our own fanbase. People that will connect with our songs. We feel like the music scene is lacking organic engagement and everyone is missing it. Real music for real people.
