As his latest release beckons on the horizon, we delve into the mind behind the music in a five-question interview!

Tell us who you are and how you started to make music?

My artist name is Blahbotski. I was born and raised in New York City and my parents are from Medellin and Pereira, Colombia. I’m a reggaeton artist with a rock’n’roll rebel spirit and sound. I have been playing guitar since I was a kid and I write and produce music for other artists. I’m always looking for inspiration from the past to bring the art to the future.

What inspires you to write music?

Life experiences inspire me to make music, the muse inspires me to make music. Conversations I hear inspire me to make music. I feel that as an artist you have to be the ultimate observer of people and a gossip. The juicer the tea the better the inspiration.

What is your creative process?

When I’m writing songs I usually start with a title or a catchphrase. It helps if I start with a “verbal hook” something that is memorable and striking when I say it or read it out loud. From there I’ll scat and start humming or singing random sounds until I come up with something that instantly grabs my attention and make me say “oh damn that works” or “that was really good”

Can you describe your upcoming release?

My next single is a song called “No te Confundas” and it will be released on Friday March 22nd. The song is about a situation with an ex where you don’t want to be with them anymore but every once in a while you end up sending that drunk text at 1am and being intimate with them even though you know it’s a bad idea. In the chorus I’m basically singing “don’t get it twisted” this isn’t love and we’re not getting back together. It’s me saying I know we both just needed to get our rocks off and that’s ok.

What do you plan for the future?

I’m working with a wonderful company called Casete that has headquarters in Mexico City and in Colombia and the plan is to release new song every 6-8 weeks throughout 2024 while being active on social media and growing and strengthening my brand.

I’m going to start performing live locally in New York City and in the region soon. I’m super excited for what may be around the corner.
