Welcome to our redaction! Can you tell us who you are and how you started to make music?
Hi, so I am Luchi, an LGBTQI+ singer songwriter who grew up in Glasgow, Scotland. I started releasing music independently back in 2017 but I started writing at 13 in my bedroom. It was a way for me to articulate how I was feeling because sometimes I don’t know how to say it but I can sing it and it’s where I can be the most honest.
What inspires you to write and create music?
Life is my biggest inspiration. All the things I’ve been through allow me to write vulnerable and relatable songs. Even though we all go through different experiences, we all feel the same emotions so I always try to make sure that I am touching on that so that people can relate it to their own experiences which may differ from mine.
How is your creative process?
It varys every time. Sometimes it’s just me sitting by the piano and channeling what I’m going through at that time, sometimes it’s something someone says that inspires me or sometimes I write lyrics and melodies to instrument tracks sent to me from various collaborations. I usually write alone to start with as I feel then I can get real and honest with myself and then I have Chris Stagg who I work with on all my artist projects and he bring the song to life for me on the production side of things.
How would you describe your latest release?
Mountain to me is one of the most special songs I’ve written. It’s one that I’m super proud of as I think that it is super relatable. We all go through things in life and we all have our own mental health struggles at times so this song encapsulates that part of the healing process when you are contemplating help but just don’t feel strong enough to take the first step. It takes a lot of strength and courage to face your demons and change your life and you have to be ready to take on the fight.
What do you plan for the future?
There’s a lot more music to come from me. I’m so excited as I know what’s coming. I also hope to get back on the road in 2024 and come see all my fans in person.
