Q&A with British band goldenbloom

– Who’s behind goldenbloom and how the band came to be?
So goldenbloom is Myself, Jordan as the singer and guitarist. William Young on guitar, Johnny Brock on bass and Justas Pugaciauskas on drums
I was originally in a session band with Will and I think i’d just sent him a few riff ideas seeing if he fancied giving a project like this a go. I was Justas’s manager at a publishing company and he was itching to get behind the drums again. Johnny I’d play a gig with a few years back with another band. He was originally a session bassist as his band was still going but he became fulltime after I took him to a pub and got him pissed.

– How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard of you?
Loud, angry, unapologetic.

– What’s the story behind your latest track “HEating”?
I think some clip came up on instagram from someone calling in on LBC. The guy was in complete despair, low income, living by themselves. Petrified with the latest increase to cost of living. The bloke’s literally in tears trying to work out how to make life work. It really struck a chord with me. It was the second verse I wrote straight away. I guess I just wanted to have an alternative verse where it was more care free and showing the juxtaposition between different income groups.

– What do you hope listeners will take away from your music?
Hopefully a desire to want to see us do it live. Our live shows can get a bit mental.

– What’s coming next for you in 2024?
Aiming to wrap our second EP this year and hit up some festivals. Watch this space.
