Welcome to our redaction! Could you tell us who you are and how you started to make music?

My name is Hector Lara, better known for my stage name STRIKED UP. I am a DJ/Producer based in
Los Angeles, CA. I started music when I was a freshman in college, I was always inspired by turntablism, scratching records, and the hip hop culture. I really started taking music seriously when I left my job of 3 years working in corrections to be a full time DJ in Denver, CO. It was not easy, I knew I had to grind it out. I somehow figured it out, and was blessed to be doing what I loved for a living.

I then moved to Aspen, CO, and soooo many opportunity came from that little city maaan! holding down residencies at premiere nightclubs 3 nights a week, opening for The Chainsmokers at the Winter X-Games, to DJn the Pan American Olympics in South America. I want to give a huge shout out to my friend DJ Naka G for being a big part those opportunities. I miss that little magical town.

Last year, I had the opportunity to move to Los Angeles, CA to attend one of the best music production schools in the world called Icon Collective. Well I moved, and knew I was entering a den of Lions in the industry. Ive always been a person who loves a challenge, and tries not to get stagnant. Im going on my last quarter of school, and it has been nothing short of an incredible learning opportunity.

What inspires you to create and make music?

Alot of my inspirations come from some of my favorite producers, RL Grime, NGHTMRE, Quix, and many others. I also learn something new every song I write. Music production is a never ending journey. An endless sea of technique, information, and emotion.

Do you have a specific creative process?

Because the creative process come so quick I have to jot them down in my phone asap, if I dont I will forget them, and I will enter writers block. When I’m writing I try to get the idea out quick vs. being stuck EQing a kick.

“I Got Bounce” is now on repeat in our  Playlists. Can you tell us more about this new track?

I just launched my new alias “Striked Up” where I will be releasing music under, I recently released my first single last month called “I Got Bounce” go check it out on all platforms.

What do you plan for the future? Do you have a new project on the road?

I am currently working on a Bass House EP, I hope to release by next month, one of the tracks I am collaborating with this talented duo named “ALTERBOY” from Italy, be on the look out for it! As far as long term goals, unfortunately that is kinda hard to tell right now during this pandemic.
