Today, we discovered “The Days”, Nathaniel Sutton’s musical sanctuary. The opus is crafted with a deeply comforting experience—one that guides listeners through life’s uncertain paths with grace.
The journey opens with “The Passenger,” a track that instantly soothes the listener with an opening note that feels like the first rays of a rising sun. What follows is a soaring guitar arrangement that immediately lifts the spirit, crowned by Sutton’s gentle vocals. With poetic elegance, he sings of our shared paths, winding trajectories, and the quiet doubts we hold about where to go next.
We then transition into “Vintage Glow,” a track enriched by soft-rock rhythms and an intimate keyboard that plays seamlessly around vocals whispered like a conversation with an old friend.
While listening to the album, we were amazed by its wonderful eclecticism. Certain tracks drift along dreamlike, wandering melodies, while others feel grounded and raw.
The collaborative tracks shine particularly bright. “Ain’t No Funeral,” featuring Salty Auntie, is a beautiful indie-folk-pop gem. The interplay between their two distinct vocal tones instills a sense of hope that seems to push open new horizons. Later in the album, Lily Monaghan delivers a similarly wonderful guest appearance on “Hurricane.”
Sutton effortlessly shifts between genres throughout the record—incorporating soft-rock textures, subtle country accents, and even intriguing trip-hop influences, as heard on the surprising “Back When,” which captivates with its extended instrumental passage.
From start to finish, culminating in the evocative closing track “Threshold,” we remain entirely spellbound by Sutton’s storytelling and emotional vulnerability. “The Days” is a captivating listen that invites you to slow down, listen closely, and lose yourself in its warm embrace.
