We had an interview with the international performer, singer and songwriter for the release of her new EP ‘Curlsworld’.

Welcome to our redaction Oriana ! Can you tell us who you are and how you started to make music?
My name is Oriana Curls and I’m a French artist living in London. After studying music for many years in France I decided to come over to London and fulfil my dreams of becoming a professional musician and performer, which has happened! It’s been over 10 years now that I write songs and have a career in the music industry.
What inspires you to write music?
I’m obviously inspired by my own experiences, but also about what’s going on around me, or in society. I can write about love and relationships of course, but also about inner struggles and growing as a person and artist, all the challenges and beauty that life has to offer.
What is your creative process?
It can vary a lot, depending if I work alone or with a team..I usually have ideas first, develop them as much as I can and then take them to producers and people who are specialised at what they do. Each song has a different story so that makes the whole journey unique and interesting.
How would you describe your latest release?
I created my ‘Curlsworld’ a while ago, it was always there at the back of my mind. It’s a world where people are free to be who they are and express themselves (just like curls!). I created a whole artistic concept around it, mixing art, storytelling and music. Sound wise, I’ve explored a new electronic path thanks to my producer Joe Rodwell, and I’m really happy with the results! My video ‘Soldier of Love’ is about all the struggles connected to physical and mental heath issues, feeling that we sometimes feel like the captain of our own lives, and sometimes we feel like the prisoners inside our own heads.
What can we expect from you in the future?
I’ve done a few collaborations that will be released soon, so I’ll just keep on making music and enjoy the ride!
