Ben Silby’s ‘can’t hang’ is easily our most unexpected and exciting musical discovery of the season. From the opening track “dirt i,” you’re drawn in by playful, understated melodies—then the voice hits. It’s addictive, beautiful, and floats somewhere between dreamy and futuristic pop.
The choruses? Wild and explosive. Layers of intense synths take you to another world entirely. What really makes this project stand out are the unpredictable song structures—nothing here is formulaic. “misfit” is a perfect example: a bold, self-defining track that embodies Silby’s artistic vision. Silby sings their truth with a wide vocal range colored by emotion and flair.
Then comes “blue,” a raw, emotional cut that shows off Silby’s unique ability to bend feelings the way the voice and the production are blended. The closing track, “can’t hang,” is the EP’s emotional and sonic centerpiece. It brings everything together—their voice, their sound, their story. It’s introspective, moving, and deeply relatable.
As Silby repeats “i can relate” in the final moments, so do we. This EP is a gem—fresh, emotional, and undeniably original!
