To start the week off, the-further takes you on a journey to discover Andrea Pizzo and the Purple Mice, a Genoa-based artistic collective led by Andrea Pizzo alongside his wife Raffaella Turbino, Riccardo Morello, and producer Roberto Tiranti. We first discovered them through their EP Come Out Lazarus.
From the very first track, we are plunged into a world of sonic mystery. It opens with an intriguing intro, followed by drums that build tension, and a curious, melancholy vocal performance—setting the tone that this record will be unlike anything else. Indeed, as the EP continues, it proves to be entirely unclassifiable; attempting to box it into a single genre would be a mistake.
The second track envelops us in further sonic enigmas, featuring a guitar that sparks the imagination, expressive vocals, and touches of electronic color. We then move on to “I Was The Universe,” a more rhythmic piece infused with a gentle melancholy—like a friend extending a hand so we feel less alone. Up through “A New Heart,” we are lulled and transported into a space of complete creative freedom. This track holds a few surprises of its own and takes the listener on a true journey—though we’ll leave those surprises for you to discover. Dive into it:
