As the weekend begins, we couldn’t think of a more beautiful musical discovery to share than Ben Popp and his breathtaking song “Comme du magma.”
Performed in French, the track carries a soothing poetry that transcends language. It’s the kind of song that quietly settles into your heart, offering comfort, hope, and a gentle reminder that even the most lost souls can find light again.
With his authentic, tender, and generous voice, Ben Popp shares his emotions with sincerity. Delicate piano melodies intertwine with subtle rhythms, creating an intimate atmosphere.
An independent alternative rock artist based in Lyon, Ben Popp released “Comme du magma” on his album J’ai vu le futur (Photo Non Contractuelle)—a record that feels especially meaningful right now. It’s an album to soften hearts, slow down, and reconnect with our emotions. We truly need artists like him!
We also had the pleasure of getting to know Ben a little better through five questions.
Turn up the volume, let the music wash over you, and have a wonderful weekend.
Tell us who you are and how you started to make music?
I come from alternative rock, “do it yourself.” I write my music and produce my records in autarky with regularity. Music, I fell into it as a teenager (like in the song Rock’n roll by Lou Reed) and the next logical step was to abuse myself of the three chords necessary for a song.
What inspires you to write music ?
My desires, the world around me.
What is your creative process ?
I need to find a groove and a harmony that inspire me and let’s go, get to work!
Can you describe your latest work ?
It is an album whose pillar is the piano and which questions the current world and its problems.
What do you plan for the future ?
I reissue old albums and finish a more punky album with lots of guitars.
