A discussion with SEDONA the promising singer-songwriter coming straight from Washington

The world is ready to welcome Sedona!

The beautiful Sedona, a singer-songwriter from Spokane, is the perfect discovery for the start of the weekend. And let’s be honest, with her explosive debut EP “Middle of the Night”, she is one of the best discovery we’ve had this week.

We discovered her 5 tracks project thanks to her single “Bottom of your Bottle”. A beautiful pop song, revealing a pure voice as well as genuine melodies. A Hit to our opinion. We can imagine “Bottom of your Bottle” on repeat on the biggest radio stations.

From the first listen, it is clear that Sedona has something of a Star, but with her style. She reminds us of personalities like Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado to name a few.

Let’s discover the singer in 5 questions right now!

We are very proud to have discovered your music. Can you introduce yourself to our readers and tell us how you started your music career?

My name is Sedona and I am a singer/songwriter from Washington state. I am currently going to school in Seattle at the University of Washington. I have been immersed in music my whole life, starting off by going to lots and lots of concerts since I was 7 years old. In the 5th grade, I taught myself how to play the drums, and that lead to guitar, ukulele, piano, and other instruments. Whenever I was bored, I would just learn how to play a new instrument. I never thought I was a very good singer however, until the lead singer of Train, Pat Monahan, heard my voice when I was 16, loved it, and convinced me to start writing my own music.

We can feel in your lyrics that you have a lot to say and share with the world. What inspires you to write music?

Music has always been a therapeutic release for me. I only write songs about personal experiences and emotions that I feel. If it’s about heartbreak, or losing a friend, or cherishing time with your family, or feeling lost, or about falling in love, all of these things have inspired me to write-just normal, human, relatable type things. I always hope that if anyone, of any age or gender, hears a song of mine, they can relate to it in some way.

Your songs are catchy, well-produced, but also musically sophisticated. What is your creative process?

I typically have to be pretty overcome with emotion to write a good song. This is not a rare occurrence though because I am a pretty emotional person. So once I feel something, or something happens to inspire me, I sit down with my guitar or at the piano and start playing with chords and melodies until one sticks. But, as many songwriters can account to, not every song comes about the same way, sometimes it’s the melody first, sometimes it’s the lyrics, etc. Sometimes I’ll just be sitting somewhere random, like in an uber or something and I’ll think of a cool melody or lyric so I have to record it on my phone before I forget it.

Can you tell us more about your latest release and the story behind its creation?

My latest release was “Middle of the Night”, which is my debut EP that contained my debut single “Bottom of Your Bottle”. I put together 5 very different songs on the EP whilst also ensuring that all of the songs were quintessentially “Sedona”. So much and so many different emotions were put into this EP and I feel like I really put myself out there. I was in and out of the studio for about 8 months, juggling school and life and trying to get the project where I wanted it to be. Getting to record my work in an amazing recording studio called Amplified Wax in Spokane, was such an amazing, exhausting, fulfilling, experience. I am very happy with how it turned out and am excited to write and record more!

We can’t wait to see how far you will go and what will be your next steps! What are your plans for the future?

My main plan is that I will continue to be true to myself, and write songs that come from my heart and my experiences. But also I want to keep growing musically, keep improving my singing as well as my songwriting and guitar playing. I hope to keep performing and perform more, and hopefully reach more and more people. I plan to use things that I have learned from the many other amazing artists that I have watched perform and come to know in terms of writing and having an entertaining stage presence.
