Jessica Nicole Brown on Growth, Healing, and Finding Her Voice

We discovered Jessica Nicole Brown with the outstanding “Valley Girl”: a complete piece of art. The artist introduced the track through a mesmerizing short film, further proving that she possesses a truly distinctive artistic identity. In the visuals, we see her wandering endlessly, almost as if searching for a lost path…

The song itself is stunning. Jessica Nicole Brown’s voice is magnificent — deep, soulful, and filled with emotion. Carried by delicate piano melodies, rich organ textures, and a solemn cinematic touch, Valley Girl unfolds as a beautiful soul-pop composition that reaches straight for the heart. Every detail feels sincere, intimate, and emotionally powerful.

We also had the chance to interview her because we were genuinely curious to get to know her better — and, most importantly, to introduce her to you.

Welcome to our redaction! Can you tell us who you are and how you started making music?

My name is Jessica Nicole Brown, and I’m an independent creative. I got the performing bug when I saw The Cheetah Girls. Then, I remember reading a Taylor Swift article shortly after when I was around 13 or 14 years old. She talked about being a singer; it’s better to be well-rounded and able to write your own songs. That’s when the journey started. At the time, I didn’t know much about composing or finding beats, so my songs were just acapella.

What inspires you to create and write music?

It’s just what I want to do. I also think it’s one of my gifts and one of the things I am meant to do. That alone gives me the urge, confidence, and motivation to do it and continue excelling.

Do you have a specific creative process?

Sometimes I hear the melody first, sometimes I start with the music, and sometimes I just start with figuring out what story or topic I’d like to talk about. It really depends, but I love the process. In my brain, it’s almost like putting a puzzle together.

How would you describe your latest release?

After almost 3 years, I am finally back with my new song “valley girl”. And no, it is not about living in Cali. I thought about how people say that throughout life we go through peaks and valleys, highs and lows. My song “valley girl” is about me feeling low. A lot of people think the song is about a guy, which, eww, not entirely. Along with releasing the song, there is also a music video and short film that goes with it. I felt that there was more of the story that I wanted to tell and show, and that just doing a music video wouldn’t be enough. I do think that when people see what I look like in the visuals, they’ll be thrown off. It is a major contrast to the vibe of what you hear in the song. I wanted to give a visual representation of what I felt like after the hardships and growth I experienced while I was away.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Oh, I have big plans! My mom used to say, “Plan your work and work your plan.” I’ve been doing just that. So, you’ll hear from me again soon. Like, really soon…
