OUR INTERVIEW OF THE MONTH WITH BEN LLØYD

Today we invite you to discover Ben Lløyd’s musical universe, our artist of the day who surprised us thanks to his latest release “Narco”.

Extracted from his new album “L’espoir fait vivre”, Narco is a cinematic hip-hop gem where Lløyd’s flows and recognizable voice shine from start to finish.

French rap has never been so creative with Lløyd as he effortlessly brings fresh air into a crowded game where many sound the same.

The album “L’espoir fait vivre” perfectly illustrates our point by unveiling 9 eclectic tracks with flawless lyrical content, and addictive flows.

Lløyd enters our list of the most creative artists around.

Check out our interview with him below.

Can you introduce yourself to our readers? How did you start to make music?

Thank you for your interest in my project, so I’m Ben Lløyd, Lløyd for my British side (big beard, big beer drinker) and because I have travelled a lot in countries such as England, Ireland and New Zealand. I am a backpacker. I started music by accident by writing lyrics in high school with a weak flow like most rappers who start but I never gave up, out of passion. Writing was my escape.

How would you describe your universe and what do you want the audience to keep in mind?

I would like the audience to remember my positive attitude and that each of my songs is a little story that can resonate with you. I think that the people who listen to me will be better able to describe my world than me, perhaps the world a big dreamy child. I just do what I love. I love to try out new musical styles while keeping my style.

We appreciate the cinematic touch in “Narco”. Does cinema inspire you? What inspired you to create “Narco” and your album “L’espoir fait vivre?”

I am seriously inspired by cinema, series but also books. I consume all 3 heavily. “Narco” was born out of a 6-month stay in Latin America, a few years ago. I needed to capture that moment in my life in a song.

The album “Hope Brings Life” was born out of an intention to spread positivity to those who listen to me. Either get the listener to think about serious topics like the environment and female freedom or simply send good vibes through cheerful and catchy songs.

What is your ‘top 3 best rappers of all time’?

Difficult to give a ranking as there are good rappers who have different styles. It depends on what you want to listen to and how crazy you are. I have too much on my mind. Three that really inspired me:

Nekfeu for the quality of his writing, his flow and his hooks which always stay in mind.

Orelsan for what he brought to rap at the time, with self-derision, and his songs that you must have found yourself in at least once.

Lomepal with his album Jeannine which transported me.

What can we expect from Lløyd in the coming months?

From open mic to stage, I’m finally up to the challenge!
