Yeah, we listened to Kanye West’s Donda album as well. To be honest, we didn’t know what to expect, I think you know why, come one, it’s Kanye West…! We also tried not to read the already published reviews, to avoid hearing to much gossips.
So what did we think: Kanye West is experimenting! And that’s why we admire him. On the first listen, we had the impression that the artist had nothing to prove, that he was tapping into his feelings, his hells, his paradises, and turned it into songs.
“Donda” does not sound like any other “hip-hop” project in the game, it stands out, it navigates into the unknown and through contemporary art, like a painting, a canvas, quite simply a piece of art.
“The album is long,” you might say. Yes, you are right, we are not going to lie, but when we think about it, perhaps it serves the artist’s goal which is to immerse each of us a little more in the intensity of the feelings that he expresses, his deep spirituality. This is how it felt.
Now, tell us your thoughts?
