Today, we discovered Calvin, a Chicago-born promising rapper.  The artist recently released an impressive album entitled “Live, Don’t Die”.

Blending trap music with other genres like Soul or R&B, his sound is fresh air for the music industry. With tracks like “Hold On”, or “Bass Talk” to only name a few of our favourites, Calvin proves that he can compete with the Greatest.

The lyrical content is also strong and sends a lot of powerful messages to the audience.

Welcome to our redaction Calvin. First of all, could you introduce yourself to our audience and tell us how you started to rap?

My name is Calvin. I started doing music at the age of 9 just making beats on tables and recording on cassette tapes.

What inspires you to write and make music?

Just the love of music inspires me. And also artists like Kanye West, Twista, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Drake, J cole.

Do you have a specific creative process?

My process is pretty easy. As soon as I hear a beat I can visualise how the song should go. Or just come up with the lyrics first then the beat. It takes me about 30-45mins to complete a song

Tell us more about your latest release, how would you describe it?

My latest release was titled “Live don’t die”, its a somewhat versatile album with relationship songs hardcore rap songs and lyrical songs.

What are your plans for your future?

I plan to become more successful, do more shows and create more awesome music!
